Bunny Themed Nursery

Nurseries are one of the best and most fun rooms to decorate. This bunny themed nursery was for my younger daughter and seemed like it suited her well, as she was born on Easter weekend.

I didn’t have a big budget at the time, but wanted something cute and functional. Being my second time around, I knew the things that were important to me.

My daughter’s room is fairly small, so I did know I had to be strategic with furniture that I used in there.

Let’s get started.

Wall Color

I went down the paint chip spiral for this nursery, has that ever happened to you? The more paint colors you look at, the more you are overwhelmed and cannot make a decision?

I ended up finding an old pink paint color in my mother’s basement one day, which had been the color of my room when I was younger (yes, it was a few years old, yikes).

Regardless, this was sign for me to use this Valspar color, and so my decision was made.

I have seen a lot of other colors used for a little girl’s room, but I sort of liked the innocence and familiarity of pale pink when it comes to a girl’s nursery.

The Crib

I ended up getting this Pottery Barn crib off of Facebook Marketplace and what a great buy! Of course, I disinfected it (a couple of times) and did a good job cleaning it up.

I did buy a new mattress, but I do love this crib and its simple beauty.

Facebook Marketplace is a great place to check out for expensive cribs at a significant discount (especially since some of the cribs out there are barely or not used at all).

I do have another crib from Pottery Barn, and the quality is great. Definitely worth the price if you want to buy new.

Dresser

This was another great Facebook Marketplace find. I paid about $60 for this solid wood dresser. Nothing that a little paint and new hardware couldn’t fix.

Almost a year later, and there is no sign of wear on this dresser, so worth the sweat equity of that project!

Window Treatment

My cash supply was low and could not bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars on designer curtains for this bunny themed nursery.

I also knew from my older daughter that I tended to keep the room dark, as I mostly sat in her room during sleep hours.

I ended up taking heavy IKEA curtains I previously owned and altered them for a better length.

Additionally, I did put up generic shades for wind and heat protection, as our home is immediately surrounded by a considerable amount of flat land.

These IKEA curtains are a great value with a heavy weight and texture for a more expensive look.

Rocking Chair

I already owned this chair from when my older daughter was born. This chair is from Pottery Barn and has the ability to convert to and from standard legs and rocking legs.

I initially purchased this chair when there was a fabric sale (make sure if you are on Pottery Barn eyeing a piece of furniture and check back frequently for sale fabric choices).

Bunny Pictures

I purchased and downloaded these photos from Etsy and had them printed at Walmart. Definitely the way to go for printing on a budget and quality is great.

These are cute pictures were definitely the starting focal point of this bunny themed nursery and I still love them!

They are sweet, with some cuteness, yet super versatile and could work well in a number of different styles.

Mirror & Shelves

The round mirror and shelves with bow accents are both from Hobby Lobby.

Both pieces have a heavier feel to them, but also made it so I did not have to add a lot of extras in this room.

I did try to keep the items on the shelves on the budget as well, by finding the pictures as free prints online and using frames I already owned.

Wrap Up

This was such a fun room to create, even though it is simple, definitely served the purpose well.

If you are on a budget or just wanting some simplicity, don’t be afraid to make a statement with a few meaningful pieces.
