Polywood Outdoor Furniture Review

This is my personal review of the Polywood Outdoor Furniture Lakeview Set.

This review is an unbiased opinion, and I have no affiliation with Polywood or any website that sells this brand of product. I simply want to provide reliable information so you can make a decision before purchasing. 

Location and Weather for Outdoor Furniture

The weather in upstate New York can be unpredictable, but I am sure glad that the heart of summer is finally here. If you are someone that loves summer, or even just enjoys warm evenings outside, you can appreciate the right outdoor furniture for your space, especially since New Yorkers only get to enjoy the nice weather for a few short months out of the year.

Polywood Outdoor Furniture: Is it Worth the Money?

Most furniture with any sustainability is an investment. That was my intention when I bought my set this year. I was in search of something durable.

Between kids, pets, and the direct sun in our backyard, I searched for furniture pieces that would sustain the elements. 

Another key component of a new outdoor furniture set for me is COMFORT.

I know often, this is not a priority for people when it comes to outdoor furniture. The rationale may come from some of the following thoughts:

The furniture will have constant exposure to the elements

The furniture will be beat up anyways

I don’t want to spend the money or it doesn’t matter the comfort, I just want this color, or that shape for my outdoor space…

Before You Choose: What are your priorities?

What is your first priority for your outdoor furniture? Are you looking for longevity of the furniture, if you are like my family in the Northeast of the USA, do you have a place to store the furniture in the winter?

I can tell you my PRIORITIES before the purchase of this Polywood outdoor furniture set. 

• Comfort: This may not be high on the list for many outdoor sets, however I knew that I wanted to utilize this set for years to come. I am a firm believer that décor can be appealing to the eye, but also comfortable!

• Durability: For me, the furniture needs to withstand constant direct sun. We also have a pool, and furniture that could withstand wet towels, bathing suits, and other exposure to outdoor elements is important to me.

• Price: We were willing to spend a fair amount as comfort and durability were important, however these items do not always correlate with the ticket price. This set fit the budget without completely breaking the bank. 

We just purchased this Polywood set this season, however I can already give you a few Pros and Cons.

Pros:

• Lightweight: The entire set including the frame can easily be moved. If you are like me and have the urge to reorganize every so often, you will appreciate the ease of moving this set.

• Easy Setup: This set came with fairly simple directions and took my husband less than 1 hour to put together.

• Quick Drying Cushions: Bringing cushions inside or putting them away each night is not on my agenda, especially because we put this set down by our pool area which is a separate from our back deck. These cushions dry within a few hours and are ready to use again. Mine are mostly in the shade and will dry even faster in the sun if left out.

• Easy Clean up: The fabric is Sunbrella and is advertised as stain resist. I can tell you that my kids have already put this fabric to the test, including grass stained and muddy hand prints. I spot cleaned all the areas without any remnants of mess, yay!! The frame is also easy to clean, and no maintenance required.

• Adding on: Polywood has an assortment of collections for their furniture. I chose one of the more generic and popular sets, with the option of adding on to in the future. Items can buy items directly from Polywood, along with other retailers. 

• Color Choices: The selection of color choices and combinations is definitely a huge plus. There is a fair amount of color choices with not only the fabric color, but also the color of the base. I went with the most neutral choice, but there are many beautiful combinations you can check out on their website. I personally LOVE the blue!

• No maintenance required: Polywood material does not need any maintenance. Polywood furniture is made from recycled polyethylene. With this material there is little upkeep. The material is fade resistant and washes well with a spray of the hose.

Cons:

• Missing Hardware: The three cushion sofa piece arrived with some of the hardware missing. My husband contacted Polywood right away and they had great customer service! They sent us the new hardware we needed within a few days without any other hassle. 

• Cushion Covers:  The cushion covers are not removable. Between the outdoors, pets, and certainly the children, I am a big proponent of washable EVERYTHING, even though that probably is not realistic, a girl can dream can’t she? The Sunbrella fabric does spot clean well as previously mentioned and is quite durable.

• More Casual: This set is a little more causal than some other outdoor couches and seating arrangements with fuller couches and arm rests. In my case, I am still reassured by the fact that this is durable against the elements at my house. 

Final Thoughts

 I like the casual look of this Polywood outdoor furniture set along with the durability. Of course, I love the beauty of bright white cushions against beautiful outdoor wicker and rattan, but I foresee my hopes and dreams covered in mud, greasy hands, and grass stains quicker than I could find a moment to even sit and relax on the furniture.

Polywood outdoor furniture has been a great option for my family and comfortable too!

Polywood products are made in the USA and compromised large from recycled materials which is a great plus!
